Making an Impact
Simon helped start the Baker/Simpson fellowship. Each year, the group gives five fully paid scholarships to students from Hartwick College, his alma mater. Students work at a San Francisco start-up and end the summer encouraged, uplifted and realizing anything is possible—with the only requirement they pay it forward with their own positive efforts
A Secret About Simon
For a summer job, Simon covered Wimbledon for HBO during a year that had constant rain delays. During one stormy stoppage, Simon challenged Chris Collinsworth, the famed sportscaster, to a live “slide off” down a muddy embankment. Chris literally jumped into the challenge while Simon, the instigator, held back. Simon’s response: “Those crazy Americans.”
