As BakerAvenue’s Director of Estate Planning, Simon Mayali works with clients to identify their estate planning goals and options and helps them understand the complexities of estate and gift taxation. He began his career as an attorney in Chicago, where he developed a passion for helping clients plan for the future and navigate the intricacies of estate administration. He later obtained his LL.M in taxation with a focus on estate planning in order to work with clients on complex estate and gift tax issues.
Prior to joining BakerAvenue, Simon was an associate in the International Tax department at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Houston, and an attorney for several boutique trusts and estates firms in San Francisco. He holds a B.A. from UCLA, a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and a Taxation LL.M from Northwestern School of Law. He is a member of the San Francisco Bar Association and is licensed to practice law in California, Illinois, Texas, and Washington D.C.
Making an Impact
As the former co-chair of The Bar Association of San Francisco Barristers Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Section, Simon helped put together a training session for attorneys to use when establishing pro bono estate plans for frontline workers when the pandemic first started.
A Secret About Simon
Simon loves to travel and has been stung by a jellyfish twice (likely not the same jellyfish but who knows), once in Miami and another time in Thailand. He’s not striving for a third sting but would probably take it if it meant he could be on a beach in the Seychelles.
